Do you think illegal immigrants mix in the melting pot or do they have their national allegiance outside US?

Do you think illegal immigrants adapt and melt into the melting pot or do they maintain an allegiance to a foreign government? I could see where some could argue that because the hispanics have everything available in Spanish in the larger cities that they don’t have to change but I don’t know if this is true or not? It would be interesting to see if studies have been done that show how illegal immigrants pick up American value and identity in terms of language, support of democracy and other American ideas. The marches last year where most illegals flew the Mexican flag make you wonder if the illegals have any desire to become US citizens and members of American culture or whether they want to have their foreign nationalism but only inside the US borders.
