It’s no secret around my house, family and friends that I love to cook. When it comes to food, I can count on the fingers of my left hand the food items that I don’t like. This leaves me with a large selection of food items to cook.

For the longest time I lived with a kitchen that I thought was well organized. Little did I know that I was living in a kitchen with room for improvement. For a quite some time (a few years), I was doing something in my kitchen that I wasn’t aware of.

You know the story. Every time you go to cook something on the stove, you have to do the deep bends. Not only that, but there was also the rearranging duty involved in picking out the perfect size pots or pans to cook whatever you had in mind at the time. That’s right. You are guilty of pans in the lower kitchen cabinets! This problem exists in the kitchens of homes all over the world.

Not only is this bad for your lower back, to bend down into a cabinet every time you need a pot or pan, with all the stacking and unstacking of your pots and pans, your pots and pans are prone to unwanted wear and tear by scratching each other during the removal and the replacement into your lower kitchen cabinet. This is especially harmful to the non-stick surfaces on many pots and pans sold today.

I’m here to tell you that there is a solution to that back breaking bending over in your kitchen every time you need a pot or pan. I’m here to tell you that there is a solution to the wear and tear of stacking your pots and pans in a lower kitchen cabinet. I’m here to tell you that there is a solution to this pot/pan storage problem. My friends, I’m here to tell you…

There are 3 little words that will save your back and your pots and pans. Those 3 little words are Wall Pot Rack. I know, I know, you’re saying to yourself, “If I only thought about it years ago I wouldn’t have the lower back problems I have today. If I only thought about it years ago I would have saved on all the wear and tear my pots and pans of the past went through and it really wasn’t necessary.”

It’s not too late to correct your kitchen’s pots and pans storage problems today. All you have to do is pick out the Wall Pot Rack that is the perfect match for your pots and pans and your kitchen’s decor. Maybe you haven’t been storing your pots and pans correctly all these years, but starting today you will find the best wall pot rack for your needs.

I would like to start out by saying that the best choice of wall pot rack style for your kitchen is a good combination of the decorating theme of your kitchen along with the color scheme of your pot and pans. Are your appliances white, black or stainless steel? For older kitchens, you appliances may be green, yellow or some other color. What type of kitchen furniture do you have? Is your kitchen set wood, metal or PVC? Do you have wood stained kitchen cabinets or are your cabinets painted in a solid color? Now when it comes to your pots and pans, are they black, silver colored metal or copper? All of these colors will be the deciding factor for the color of your wall pot rack.

The standard colors for wall pot racks are copper, stainless steel, brass, wood (in various stains), custom (order special color), black, chrome, pewter, metallic/graphite, bronze, red, green and blue. Take a good look around your kitchen. Notice all the colors in the room. Now decide what color wall pot rack would be the best color for your kitchen.

Next take a look at the style of your kitchen. Wall pot racks styles are Modern, Traditional, Ornate, Contemporary and Novelty. Only you know what style or combination of styles you kitchen is decorated. Go with a wall pot rack that will match the style of your kitchen.

Now it is time to decide what shape you would like your wall pot rack to be. Here your choices are rectangular/square, oval, straight bar, half round, corner, shelf and unique. The shape is all a matter of your personal taste. Explore all the shapes and go with your gut feeling. You will come up with a winner!

The materials for making your wall pot rack are wrought iron, stainless steel, copper, wood, brass, steel and various other metals. If you are going to go with a painted wall pot rack, then go with a less expensive material. Otherwise your choices are wide open.

Next you will want to know about features for your wall pot rack. There are only two features to choose from. These features are decorative and bookshelf. I’m sure that you already know that decorative means that more decoration has been put into the construction of the wall pot rack. As for bookshelf, this means that a bookshelf has been built into the wall pot rack so you may put cookbooks or spices that you more commonly use, for easier access. The bookshelf is a convenient option to have.

The last but not least important factor in buying the best wall pot rack for your needs is size. Wall pot racks are measured by width and depth. Here you have to weigh in 3 factors before determining what size wall pot rack is right for your kitchen. First you will have to know how many pots, pans and utensils you will be hanging on the rack. Second you will have to know how wide an area of wall you can dedicate to the wall pot rack. Measure the space on the wall to see how much room you will have for the pot rack. Finally you will have to know how far out from the wall you would like your pot rack to be. This can be determined by the size of your kitchen and weather or not a wall pot rack will be in the way if the depth of the rack is too deep. You should know this at a glance. There are standard widths and depths for wall pot racks. You can also have a wall pot rack made to any size you desire if you are willing to pay the price.

Your kitchen is unique to you. You have decorated your kitchen in a manner that makes you comfortable. Now you can add a lot of convenience and style with the addition of a wall pot rack.

Earlier in the week I had just finished washing the dishes and I was putting them away in my cabinets. It felt like I was playing Russian roulette with my pots and pans. I had just stacked and unstacked the last pot when a shearing pain tore through my back. That made me realize I had enough. There must be a better way of storing these essential items. After I called my husband to come and help me up, I started my research.

I am now the proud owner of a stainless steel wall mounted pot rack. My kitchen is now the room that I love to enter. It makes me feel organized, professional and most of all comfortable. It has enhanced every element of my kitchen. My kitchen seems friendlier and I have more free time to prepare my meals. It has become the focal point and wow factor of my room.

We all need more space and less clutter in the kitchen. It makes our lives run smoother and gives us a peaceful disposition. The pot rack helps upgrade and update the room that we spend so much time in. It is not only functional but eye catching to anyone that beholds it. These little details make the difference between an impersonal kitchen and the room that you never want to leave.

There are some questions you must ask yourself before you go out and buy a kitchen pot rack. Your first questions should be where you will put this in your kitchen. The options are hanging, wall mounted, lighted or stand alone. Hanging pot racks are generally placed over kitchen islands or peninsulas. Wall mounted pot racks are usually positioned below or between cabinets. If you have more then enough space, a stand alone can be very attractive. For additional lighting, a pot rack that comes with downlights illuminates the kitchen and will add ambience to your working space. Ceiling pot racks come with grids which allow you to adjust the hooks for hanging your pots and pans in a way that will be most convenient for your reach.

The wall mounted pot rack that I choose had an extra shelf for storage for my cookbooks and decorations.

Some of the shapes that are available are rectangular, oval, bookshelf, round, dome and square. There are also various materials. You can find them in black, copper, silver, brass, stainless steel, bronze, chrome, wrought iron and wood.

You can purchase pot racks that compliment your existing kitchen colors, or you can make a statement with highly contrasting finishes. You could also consider mixing the finishes for a more stunning dramatic effect.

The pot rack serves three main purposes all at the same time. They are decorative, add much needed space and keep your pots and pans handy and protected.

Hanging your pots and pans prevents wear and tear from storing them inside each other. It is also an added attraction. If you own beautiful cook wear why not display it?

It is always wise to strictly follow the installation instructions specified by the manufacturer. Pot racks can get very heavy when weighed down with all your pots and pans. The amount of weight a pot rack can hold depends on how it is hung from your wall or ceiling. If you have any questions or concerns, I would suggest you consult a professional in your area.

Most kitchen pot racks are easy to maintain and clean. They extend the life of your cook wear while at the same time helps reduce the cook’s frustration.

Do yourself a favor and move your cookware out of those back bending lower cabinets. Keep them at an arms reach in your innovative dream kitchen.

Having a verandah added to your home is a big decision to make, and it can totally transform the way you use your house. But while the biggest decision is in choosing the style you want, you still have some work to do once the structure is complete and ready to use.
For example, you will also need to think about how to make it the most inviting space that you can, and simply adding some chairs or a lounger won’t always do the best job in this regard.

What does always work well here is to make good use of flowers and shrubs to soften the overall appearance of the new structure, and this can actually be a lot of fun as well.

The most obvious things to add – and by far the easiest – are pot plants. These are easy because they can be swapped around or moved position in just a few seconds, and you don’t need to commit to any firm designs because you could literally move them round to give you a different look and feel every day of the week if you wanted to.

The first thing you need to think about is how much space you could give over to pot plants without them starting to get in the way. This will help you to decide what size of pots to buy, although you can always choose a selection. In fact, one large pot can provide a good focal point while a number of smaller ones nestle around the front of it.

If you try this technique make sure you use a wide variety of flowers that will grow to similar heights. If you use a larger plant that grows taller, place it at the back in the larger pot and allow the smaller ones to spread in front of it. When they are all in full bloom the colour arrangement can look stunning.

You should also choose flowers and plants which have a nice aroma. This is a natural way of making sure your house veranda always smells stunning and has a very inviting aroma.

Don’t be afraid to experiment with different plants you may never have bought before either. The joy of doing this is that it is so easy to put a new plant into a pot and see what happens to it. It may not like the shady area you initially put it in, so all you need to do is move the pot to the edge of your veranda to give it some more sun. It may then bloom into a delightful addition to the area.

This is what you need to remember when you are putting together various pot plants to decorate your veranda with. Experimenting with what suits the space best can be enormously enjoyable, and you might just find that you have greener fingers than you thought you did!

Finally, don’t forget to have a good selection of different pots of all shapes and colours available. Why not decorate some yourself for a truly unique look?

Do you want to free up some kitchen cabinet space and have your pots and pans hanging from a pot rack within easy reach? And do you want to have your cookbooks, cooking oils, and your basil and thyme herbs displayed neatly on a wall mounted pot rack as well?

Then the stylishly decorative and practical hanging or wall mounted pot rack might just be the storage space solution and energy saving kitchen device for you.

Possible origins of pot racks

The idea of hanging cookery pots in the kitchen may have originated from the 17th century practice of using an arrangement of links and hooks or trammels to suspend, raise or lower cooking pots in a fireplace to control cooking temperatures.

Up to the 15th century, most wealthy European homes had spacious kitchens with several adjacent anterooms, including whole rooms just for storing pots and pans and other utensils. However, it would not be surprising if poorer families with less spacious kitchens used pot racks, either in the form of tripods standing on the kitchen dirt floor or hooks hanging from the ceiling or wall, to store their pots and pans and other utensils.

How to choose a pot rack for your kitchen

1. The first question to ask is “Where do I want to put my pot rack?”. If you are going to put it on top of a kitchen island, for example, then you will probably need a pot rack hanging from the ceiling. If you are going to put it against the kitchen wall, then you may need to have the wall-mounted shelf type variety with a grid.

2. If you are going for a hanging pot rack you have to know how tall your ceiling is. Most pot racks are designed to fit 8 or 9-foot ceilings for easy access to cooks of average height. However, households with shorter cooks or taller ceilings need not despair. Most pot rack stores, whether online or down the road, carry a wide range of chains or extension hooks to solve the situation.

3. The next question is: “Do you want to match your pot rack to your kitchen’s decor?” For example, if you are going to hang your pot rack in a modern kitchen above a built-in kitchen island with stainless steel countertops, cooktops, ovens and dishwashers, then a stainless steel pot rack might be best for you.

However, if you are you are going to hang your pot rack in country cottage style kitchen next to oak timber cabinets and coffee black kitchen appliances, then a black hammered steel pot rack might be a good match.

4. And equally important is “How do you want the pot rack to look?” If you want a more modern look, then the clean lines of glistening stainless steel may be your best bet. If you are going for the antique look, then the decorative swirls of brassy copper may do the job.

5. What type of material do you want your pot rack to be made of? Do you want the country elegance of oak or natural cherry? The practicality and durability of painted or powder coated hammered steel? Or the sleekness and strength of stainless steel?

6. What size and shape do you want your pot rack to be - rectangular, round, oval or square? This may be dictated by the number of pots, pans and other cooking utensils that you want to fit in as well as the kitchen space that you have available.

7. Do you need additional light? If the pot rack is above a cooking and food preparation area, then you may need pot racks that come with downlights to illluminate as well as add ambience to your working space.

8. And last but not least, how much do you want to spend for your pot rack? A quick comparative shopping on the internet will reveal that sales abound and that:

- For a budget of $50 you can get a lovely powder-coated wall-mounted pot rack in bookshelf style to put your pots and pans as well as your favorite plant and recipe book side by side.

- A budget of $150 can get you a hanging stainless steel oval kitchen pot rack with grid.

- For $359.97 you can get a modern styled Oneida lighted pot rack with center grid and two downlights.

- And if you have $2000 to spare you can get a pot rack used by professional chefs in high tech stainless steel and with two rack levels that provide more storage and hanging space.

But if you are someone who does not own a lot of pots, loves the hunt and a good bargain and have $4.95, you can go to Ebay and get a pre-loved black wrought iron pot rack that attaches to the wall and holds 5 pots. That’s a start.

You can easily decorate clay pots available in your home so that they really look attractive when noticed and involve your artistic skills too. If you have an artistic mind and you love you make something decorative and attractive for your home then clay pots are definitely a great idea to work with. You can make different items or can also so some painting on the clay pot in such a way that it will make the plant look better. It may also happen that you not even notice the plant just because the pot is so attractive.

For more details visit to www.positive-idea.com To make a painted clay pot you need to have 4″ clay pot, opaque apple green acrylic paint, opaque blue lagoon acrylic paint, opaque yellow acrylic paint, semi opaque pumpkin acrylic paint, semi opaque white acrylic paint, fine point permanent black marker.
Steps to make a painted clay pot:

1. First using a small ruler and pencil, you should measure the height of the clay pot starting just below the rim. Then mark off the halfway point between the top and the bottom of the clay pot. Altogether you should measure and mark off the halfway point at four opposite places on the pot.

2. Now holding the plastic measuring tape up to the clay pot, connect the halfway points and then draw a light pencil line between all the halfway point marks around the pot.

3. Line up the ruler with each of the halfway points around the pot one at a time and draw a light pencil line from the top of the plant pot just below the rim to the bottom of the pot at this point. You will have 8 squares drawn on the pot.

4. Then you have to decide on the color scheme or arrangement of the colors into squares you have drawn on the pot. In one set of squares you can fill any combination of two colors and in the other one also you can fill other set of colors.

5. Squeeze a small amount of the pumpkin acrylic paint on the paper plate and gather a small amount of paint on the straight edge of the brush and paint along the straight lines of one of the squares with a generous coat paint on the paper plate. Outline and fill in one of the square completely with a generous layer of paint. Now paint the square diagonally across from it pumpkin using the same method as you did for the first one and let the paint dry. Rinse out and shape the brush again.

6. When this paint is drying, you can turn the pot around to other set of 4 squares. Squeeze a small amount of yellow acrylic paint on the paper plate. For more information logon to www.change-ur-mind.com. Outline and fill in one of the squares with a generous coat of the yellow paint. Paint the square diagonally across from it yellow suing the same method as you have did for the first one and then let the paint dry.

7. When the paint on this side is drying, turn the pot around to the first set of 4 squares. Squeeze a small amount of apple green acrylic paint and paint the square diagonally across from it green using the same method as you did earlier. Again let the paint dry and you can rinse out and shape the brush again.

8. Again while this paint is drying turn the pot around to the second set of 4 squares and squeeze a small amount of blue lagoon acrylic paint on the paper plate. Next outline and fill in one of the squares with a generous coat of blue paint. Paint the square diagonally using the same method and let the paint dry.

9. When the paint is drying for the last squares you have painted, it is time to paint the edge of the pot white. Squeeze a small amount of white acrylic paint onto the paper plate and paint the edges.

Neti pot users sometimes experience problems while trying to perform their first nasal rinse. This tends to discourage the further use of the neti pot and can leave the user frustrated as to what went wrong. Using the neti pot to rinse your sinuses is a simple process. Those new to the use of the neti pot may be anxious about the procedure and this can lead to some of the most common problems encountered. Let’s take a look at some commonly reported neti pot problems.

Discomfort during the actual rinsing process usually occurs as a stinging sensation for the user. The most likely cause for this problem is an improperly mixed saline concentration. Too much salt can cause stinging and not enough salt can cause stinging. The optimum salt concentration should closely match the body’s own saline content. The best way to find the correct mixture is to consult the instructions on the salt product your using or see the neti pot instructions to get the recommended amount of salt to add.

If you are experiencing stinging please be sure that you are not using a nasal rinse additive that contains Capsaicin. Capsaicin is the substance that makes pepper hot. It is used in the neti pot by advanced users to cause a more robust mucus stream to form during the sinus rinse procedure. Beginners should stick to an isotonic formula, which means the salt concentration will match the body’s own saline. Adjusting the saline concentration will usually help the user with discomfort.

Another common problem we see is the complaint that the water will not flow through the nostrils. This can be caused by pressing the spout of the neti pot too hard against the nostril. Users can sometimes press the spout hard enough that it closes off the opening because the spout is pressed against the inside of the nose. Gentle pressure is all that is needed to obtain a watertight seal. Some spout designs can also collapse the nostril and pinch it shut. These problems can be stopped by having someone observe you while you use the neti pot. They will be able to see and help you adjust the angle to ensure you are not inadvertently shutting the flow off due to improperly aligning the spout.

It is also possible that you will encounter a problem where the water will not flow naturally through the nasal cavities. This can be due to excess congestion or even an anatomical problem such as nasal polyps. Swelling of the nasal turbinates can also obstruct the water flow as well. If you first try one nostril and can not obtain a flow, then move to the other nostril and see if water will flow from that direction. If you are able to get any of the saline formula into a nostril, then try filling and draining that nostril several times. Sometimes the warm solution will relieve swelling enough that you can perform the rinse.

If you can not get any water to flow, even after trying the steps above, then you will need to consult a physician.
