I’m making a pork tenderloin in the crock pot tonight, and I’m trying to figure out my time… My husband gets out of work anywhere from 6-9, and I’m not sure when to start the crock pot. Can this cut of meat be overcooked in the crock pot? I was planning on cooking it using the low setting, about 8 hours or so.

I would just wait to have it done at 9, no matter what time he gets out, but I would rather eat earlier in the evening if possible.

I make a large amount of beef stew in a crock pot, whats left over, I remove the stone pot container from the crock pot with the lid, cover it with plastic wrap and store it in the refrigerator to eat the very next day.

I would like to get a crock pot due to the convenience however, I’ve noticed most recipes call for 6-8 hours of cooking time while I don’t get home until after 9 hours. Will the food being cooked just be over-cooked?

Omitting rice in a crock pot recipe?

Does anyone know much liquid you would reduce in a recipe if you were omitting the rice in the crock pot?

I like brown rice and a lot of recipes call for converted rice. SO I would like to leave out the rice. Do I cut the liquids in half?
Ok, I tried it last night with regular brown rice and it didn’t work. So tonight I am going to make another pot of rice and still use the chicken. At least that won’t go to waste.

I am looking (with very few results) for a chicken and dumplings recipe!
If anyone has a recipe with bisquick dumplings, bone-in chicken thighs (I have 4 pounds of them…), and is crock-pot friendly, I would appreciate the “share” :)
Thanks in advance!

Can I fill my Crock Pot, refrigerate it overnight, then start cooking in the morning?

Aprile Q asked:

I wonder if I can set up my crock pot before I go to bed, then leave it in the refrigerator ready to go. Then, in the morning, all I have to do is set it in the heating part and turn it on.

I think that it might not be good for the pot to go from cold to hot like that, though, and usually you have to preheat the pot before adding ingredients.

Anyone tried this before?
If I leave it out overnight, won’t it develop bacteria?

If I set it on low, it will cook all night, and all the next day until I get home from work (20-21 hours).

I know that’s sort of the idea behind them but I can’t get past leaving something cooking while I am away for 6 hours. So, I mainly use mine on weekends. Do you leave your crock pot on with nobody home?

I cooked a Roast yesterday and forgot it in the crock pot last night on low. Is it still good to use. Mostly is it safe to eat?
The lid was left on and there was lots of broth in there I usually make soup the next day.
