I heard a while back about people who use too much cocaine and their nose collapses, and I was wondering if the same might be true for people who use the neti pot, being that it also put some pressure on the septum. Any thoughts?
To the person who says “there is no proof” that the neti pot does anything at all except increase the risk of infection: I know for a fact that nasal irrigation cleans out the sinuses, it is proven and even if it weren’t proven, I know from first hand use that it does this because I am able to get more air in through my nose than I could previously. To anyone reading this…Don’t listen to that bonehead, he has no idea what he is talking about.

No, it won’t on the contrary the neti pot helps clean up the passage and help you breath better. Neti pot works wonders for people with allergies.
There is no evidence that using a “neti pot” does anything at all, other than increase the risk of infection for those who do not use very, very clean equipment and very, very clean solutions…
Why take the risk?
the neti pot was actually invented thousands of years ago in India,it is used extensively throughout Asia and is very safe,it will not cause septum problems. As long as you use clean water it will also cause no infections. Many health experts recommend regular nasal irrigation.Yogi’s in India use the neti pot daily, and they don’t have a collapsed septum.
From the Neti pot website:
The practice of nasal irrigation, known as Neti, has been used by practitioners of Yoga and Ayurveda in India for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Neti is one of the six purification techniques undertaken prior to the practice of yoga to help prepare the body for the yoga practice. It is referred to in the original yogic texts known as the Hatha Yoga Pradipika and the Gheranda Samhita. It is described at some length in the Complete Illustrated Book of Yoga by Swami Vishnu Devananda, published in the USA as early as 1960. Some yogic teachers consider it valuable in cleansing the energy channels and balancing the right and left hemispheres to create radiant, energetic health and wellness, which is the foundation upon which true yogic practice can come to fruition.
